IIn 2002 Jiri Evenhuis and Janne Kyttanen set up a design research company called Freedom of Creation to develop products made with 3D printing technologies.

Together with Materialise, the European leader in rapid prototyping (done by stereolithography and selective laser sintering), they have created an astonishingly beautiful range of small shades that fit on floor or table lamp stands.
